The wake and funeral went pretty well. My mom rode with us to the wake. My dad is in Florida/Texas with my grandpa right now, otherwise he would've came too. Roger's grandma is his mom's mom. It was nice to see some of FIL's family there, along with his mother.
Two posts ago I wrote about the Pooch. Well it was resting on her stomach, right above where her hands were folded together. It did go with her. I thought it actually made her look more peaceful, instead of her hands just folded across. One of the grandkids said a nice story at the wake. Brought the tears. It was very nice though.
The funeral, (my mom didn't come because of work) it was nice to see more of FIL's family that didn't make it to the wake. We had the service at the church, then ate at the church, then drove to the cementary. I had decorated a full sheet cake. It all went and at the perfect time. So it was a perfect size. There was plenty of other treats, but we didn't know if a full sheet would be enough, but oh well. I scored the cake so I know there was 96 pieces. I put a blue rosebud on each piece. The reason why we ate in between the service and the cementary was because they are about a half hour apart. So we didn't want to trek people all the way to the cementary and all the way back to the church. At the cementary was very cold. It was 10 degrees. I don't know what the windchill was. I wore my warmest jacket and it's actually my nicest jacket, leather, and has a hood. So I was warmer than others. SIL wore a dress, brrr! They did have a tent up and that helped some.
At the service one of the grandkids read a story that her mom (grandma's daughter) wrote. It was really nice. Also 2 other grandkids sang a song. I thought that was very sweet. I guess grandma had asked them to do that.
It was sad, but knowing that she had been suffering this past month mostly, she's in a better place.

Grandma
I wrote this on December 9th, 2008
I will write an entry later abou the VisionWalk in Vegas.
Yesterday Roger's granda passed away. I'm so glad that MIL made it to her while she was still here. We got home Sunday. IL's dropped Roger and I off at my parents house because that's where we left my car. Then they went straight to Grandma. It really didn't sound good anymore. She could barely see anymore, couldn't really lift her hand. Wasn't eating or drinking.
It's very sad, but she was suffering in the past month.
The wake is Thursday and the funeral is Friday. It actually works out good for me because I have both days off. The wake is late enough that if I worked it didn't matter. Roger will be one of the pall bearers.
Well we gotta go, we need to go get him a new shirt and maybe tie. He's supposed to wear a white shirt with his suit and doesn't have that color yet.

Pooch
I wrote this on Nov. 28th, 2008
Early December, Roger's dad's side of the family have their Christmas party. It's always at a hall because there's so many people. It's on a Sunday and it's pretty much eat dinner at noon and so on. Home by 3-4.
Anywho, Roger's mom's mom always comes with. This is the grandma that's not doing good right now. For the party all the siblings takes turns hosting it. Pretty much pay the open bar. I think the family's pay for their meal (buffet). But the family in charge of the year, sends out the invites, gets the head count, can plan a special activity if they want. One year someone had a professional photographer come in so families could get a prof shot. Well when it was FIL's year, since we're setting up so early. Well not much really, so Roger and I arrived at the time as we usually do, maybe a little early. So we were in charge of picking up Grandma. I had this beanie baby type dog on my dash. It looked like Cassie. This was about 3-4 years ago now. Right away Grandma puts her hands out asking for the Pooch. The whole way there she rode with the Pooch on her lap and petted her. She put it back when we went in. On the ride home, before putting her seatbelt on, she asked to hold the Pooch again. She put it back when we dropped her off. Then the next time I saw MIL, I gave her the Pooch and said "give this to your mom, she really liked it, I want her to have it".
She had this special doilley mat thing for the Pooch to lay on, on her coffee table. She really enjoyed this thing!
Well a month ago MIL gave me the Pooch back. Since Grandma isn't doing good, she's giving everyone what she wants them to have. She wanted me to have the Pooch back.
A few days later Roger and I went to visit so I brought the Pooch with me saying she's visiting too (Grandma had always called it a girl, which is cool because I did too). He eyes just lit up and she held it and petted it. That was MIL's night to stay overnight with her (all 5 sisters were taking turns staying overnight with her, so she was never alone. This was 2 weeks ago.
Today we went back up to visit her because it really sounds like it could be any day now. But looking at her, she looks like she could hang on for awhile. Just hopefully it doesn't happen while we're all in Vegas. Anyways, she still has the Pooch. Laying besides her pillow.
MIL finally told me that I'm not going to get it back. It's going to go with her.
That makes me feel so good that just this simple thing created so much happiness for her. I didn't really understand why she gave it back to me a month ago. This isn't an object people are going to fight for. Everyone knows that it came from me. I wouldn't mind having it back but if it's going to go with her, let it! This probably has been her friend, listener, companion when nobody was around. Kind of like a real pet.

Vegas Fun (wedding)
Thursday
I worked 6am til 11am. I got home and showered and we left. We drove to my mom's and she drove Roger and I to the airport. We left at 5pm, got to Vegas about 6:45pm. Roger's dad, bride sister, groom, and their son were there. They were trying to get a picture of everyone when they came. So took our picture.
Most of us stayed in the BlueGreen timeshare. When we got there MIL ordered several pizzas. Roger and I were the last to arrive. Since there was the rehearsal, there wasn't really a groom's dinner. But this pizza party was kind of the dinner. They brought out a box ful of T-shirts that they had made. It has the LasVegas logo and says "Lucky in Love" above the logo and their name and date under the logo. So the reception, in June, we're supposed to wear them. The reception is going to be a bbq at the park. Nothing fancy. The shirts are different styles. I think that's a cool idea! Then some of the girls went out and the guys went out and were meeting up later. Kind of the bachlor/bachlorette party, smart huh? Roger and I opted out and went to Freemont street with his parents and gambled. Boy I loved the free drinks. My main drink was vodka redbull, not every casino had redbull, so then I'd order vodka collins. We went to bed at 3. So I was up for a full 24 hours. And I should add that I'm getting sick (cold).
Friday
Wake up at 9 (or was it 10?), MIL, SIL, Bride, and I got our hair done for the wedding. I got my makeup done too. Yipes! Almost $300! At least Roger was ahead at the moment and he came at the moment I was going to pay. So he paid with his current winnings. Poor Bride who decided to party it up big time last night is majorly hungover today! She went back to the room to rest afterwards. The rest of us girls ate, then were back at the room by 4 to get ready. The wedding was to start at 6pm and it was videoed, so rest of the family got the invite from her to watch it on their computer live. Part of the package is 2 limos. The limos belong to the chapel. So the guys rode in the first limo, then the girls limo was supposed to be 15 minutes later. 45 minutes later the limo came. MIL was at the chapel so there was a lot of calling back and forth trying to figure out what's going on. That kinda freaked the bride out of course. But the MIL said that the 5:30 wedding was still going on, so our wedding wouldn't have been able to start anyways. I was trying to do my best to be helpful for the bride. The wedding didn't have any attendents. SIL and Bride stlil are having a conflict over I'm not even sure what. SIL is helping her out but you can tell that's there's something going on between them too. Both a little bitter to each other. They are sisters, not ILs. But either way I wanted to help the bride out because I know it's needed. I took care of holding onto the certificates and the rings before the wedding. Then we get to the chapel and I handed the things over to them. The bouts and corsages were handed to the moms and dads. They gave SIL and me a single rose. Then it was the talk of who is to sign the certificate as the witnessess. She really didn't care, but she said that I'd do it. Kinda awesome but I felt that SIL should sign it since they really are close, they're just going thru a rough patch at the moment. I just felt that if SIL didn't sign it, she'd be even more hurt. I don't want to be in the middle here. Well I had sat down in the pew next to Roger and SIL, then I remembered that it was supposed to get signed before the ceremony. So MIL went to ask Bride and she said either SIL or LeeAnn. So we both went up there to sign it but only one of us could, so I told SIL to do it. I looked at the pictures and they have a closeup picture of me, I think the photographer thought maybe I was the closest to her, kind of a MOH. There's a closeup shot of the guy who signed the paper. But since we didn't get the girls side signed right then, the photographer wasn't there to snap SIL signing. Oh well.
The wedding was very short but sweet. I'm surprised I had to hold back tears. They got some really good pictures, which they got to pickup yesterday. Then we all headed over to this Italian restaurant for the dinner. It was very good. Then we went back to the hotel to change. Bride, groom, and their son were done for the night. Bride and groom shouldn't have partied to hard the night before!
So we went out on the Strip and gambled and drank more free drinks.
